The funds of the EFA come primarily from the subscriptions of its members, gifts and donations. With the flexibility that characterises the programming and activity of very volunteer group, the EFA assists in partial programmes, meeting urgent needs and voids that the unwieldy state machinery does not have he flexibility to cover. The activities of the EFA for meeting such needs vary in character, importance and extent, as for example:
1.Management of special funds for specific works (for example, the special fund of UNESCO for the three-year conservation programme of the surface of the Erechtheion, etc.).
2. Purchase of copies of the sculptural decoration of the Acropolis from foreign Museums.
3.Purchase of equipment (for example, computers, fax machines, a large colour-television for the projection of videos etc.) for the Centre for Acropolis Studies.
4. Subsidizing activities in the Department of Educational Programmes of the Acropolis.
5. Equipping the Museum of the Lighthouse of the Blind with especially adapted materials from the sculptural decoration and architecture of the Acropolis monuments.
6.Publishing of books, organisation of one-day conferences and symposia, and the computerization of subjects related to the Acropolis.
7.Publication of the periodical "Anthemion" for informing members and the general public about anything that has to do with the monuments and
environs of the Acropolis.
8. Funding the attendance of specialised personnel of the Acropolis at seminars in their field.
