The Friends of the Acropolis (EFA) - a non-profit, non-political association - was founded in 1989 by a group of scholars and Athenian friends of the antiquities. The purpose is to provide moral and material support for the efforts being devoted to study, protection, conservation and anastelosis of the monuments of the Acropolis of Athens and the archaeological sites around it, as unique examples of cultural and human creativity. Included likewise is the display of these monuments and in general of our cultural heritage. The EFA has its headquarters in the Centre for Acropolis Studies and it cooperates with both the First Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities (A' EPKA) and with the Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA).
The aims of the EFA are fourfold:
The funds of the EFA come primarily from the subscriptions of its members, gifts and donations.
